2011 catching prospect Nick McGee (6'1"/170) is a versatile, athletic catcher who can also play first base as well as the outfield. He has a strong arm behind the plate and has pop times around 2.00 to 2.10 to second base but still has plenty of room left for improvement once he gets better with his footwork and his exchanges. He is a tough kid who rarely lets balls in the dirt get by him and is a good receiver with his soft hands. He is a 7.0/7.1 runner in the 60 yard dash which allows him to play very aggressively on the bases. His strength however is his hitting which is demonstrated by the way the ball jumps off his bat and how he is able to drive balls hard consistently. He has been the starting catcher and 3 hole hitter at West Meck High School since his freshman year and will be a middle of the order presence for the 2011 On Deck O’s-Black in the fall.
